Getting ready for the deployment

When we deploy it is of course not just the soldiers that are impacted but the families as well, especially spouses and significant others. A traditional event prior to deployment to recognize that sacrifice is a Brigade Ball. Our BDE had one this past weekend in Hopkinsville, KY. A ball includes cocktails, presentation of the colors, toasts to the Nation, Army, BDE, Women and recognition of fallen comrades. The evening concluded with dancing. The event went pretty smoothly and everyone had a great time. I took VicChic and we got ready for the event with L&M(Thanks). The last part of a Ball is the Grog, where different units add ingredients to an alcohol punch that was originally designed to offer a choice between retelling an embarrassing event or drinking from the grog. The youngest officer in the unit typically attends the grog and in this case it was our very own Hokie. After the BDE Commander informed Hokie to test the grog twice, the Commander himself requested a glass. When he found the grog to be lacking he told Hokie to do pushups. Being Hokies Commanding officer I couldn't let him do it by himself and shortly there after all the Comancheros joined.
