Well, it wasn't quite the strip in Las Vegas or Times Square in New York, but we did ring in the New Years 10 and a half hours before the East Coast did. This was unfortunately a very dry New Years and our only drinking companion was a bottle of Sparkling Cider. More unfortunate was the loss of the first U.S. life in Afghanistan only an hour after midnight. The ground forces couldn't move him to a landing zone quickly enough for our unit to get to him and he expired before we got there.

i just read that, in Iraq, soldiers will be allowed to drink beer during the super bowl. what about you guys?
NEgative Ghost Rider. In Manas, Kyrgyzstan some soliders can drink, but not Army. We are hard core all the way. Like I said, at least I will be a cheap date when I get back.
yeah - they were allowed to drink 2 beers during the game... how funny is that. shows you just how far things have come here. they really have. not that is a peaceful paradise or anything - but it seems like things are much much better.
